Day 1 - London/Rio de Janeiro

Depart London Heathrow for your overnight British Airways flight to Rio de Janeiro. Touchdown in Sao Paulo.

Day 2 - Rio de Janeiro

Arrive in Rio de Janeiro and transfer to the hotel. Time to relax before an afternoon tour and cable car ride to Sugar Loaf Mountain, affording excellent views of the bay. Rio is an amazing city of contrasts, from the mountains to the beach, the wealthy suburbs to the poorest Favelas, and the pulsating nightlife to the wonderful museums. Three nights at the Orient Express Copacabana Palace Hotel in an Ocean View room.

Days 3 and 4 - Rio de Janeiro

Enjoy two full days in the city, including a morning tour to Corcovado Mountain, Christ the Redeemer statue and the Tijuca Forest. Ample time remains to explore the beaches and bars of this wonderful, vibrant city, famous for its sense of rhythm and fun.

Day 5 - Rio de Janeiro/Iguaçu

Transfer to the airport for the flight to Foz do Iguaçu. Afternoon at leisure to enjoy Iguaçu National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site and home to one of the world's largest and most impressive waterfalls, extending over some 2,700 metres. From the Brazilian side, walk beside the thundering cascades and brave the pontoon extending into the ‘Devil’s Throat’. Two nights at the Hotel Das Cataratas, Deluxe Room.

Day 6 – Iguaçu

Morning tour across the border to visit the Argentinean side of the falls at Iguazu. Here, there are walkways designed to take you to the very top of the falls and experience their might from above. There is spare time to wander amongst the dense undergrowth, teeming with butterflies and hummingbirds.

Day 7 – Iguaçu/Pantanal

Morning flight to Campo Grande in the heart of Brazil’s southern Pantanal, a vast and luxuriant wetland area with an abundance of wildlife. Here, cattle breeding co-exists with a wonderful natural reserve. The Caiman Ecological Refuge is an ideal base from where to explore the area. All guides are trained naturalists and accompany guests on treks, horse rides, and canoe trips. Three nights at the Caiman Ecological Refuge.

Days 8 and 9 - Pantanal

Enjoy two full days exploring this wonderful region. Look out for caiman, capybara (the world’s largest rodent), blue macaws, anaconda and sometimes jaguar even makes an appearance. From October to March the seasonal rains transform open grasslands into a vast inland delta and wetland birdlife thrives. As the waters recede, thousands of birds gather to pick off fish trapped in shallows and mammals come out to drink from the remaining lakes and ponds. Therefore the dry months from May to September are the best for wildlife viewing. Butterflies abound in April and November.

Day 10 - Pantanal/Salvador da Bahia

Transfer by road to the airport for the flight, via Sao Paulo, to Salvador da Bahia on the Atlantic coast. Transfer into the city centre for one night at Convento do Carmo.

Day 11 – Salvador da Bahia/Praia do Forte

Morning tour of Salvador da Bahia, one of Brazil’s most historical and vibrant towns, with a wealth of colonial architecture and African culture. Afternoon transfer along the Coconut Coast to Praia Do Forte, a small town set on a beautiful stretch of beach, famous for its soft golden sands and pioneering turtle release project. Three nights in a Master Room at the Praia do Forte Eco-Resort Hotel.

Days 12 and 13 – Praia do Forte

Settle in to the gentle pace of this remote part of Brazil’s coastline, relaxing on the beach, swimming in the cool waters and enjoying the freshly cooked local fish.

Day 14 – Salvador da Bahia/London

Transfer to Salvador for the flight to Sao Paulo, to connect with the British Airways flight to London. Arrive day 15.
