Day 1 - London/AvignonFly with British Airways from London-Gatwick to Marseille and pick up your hire car and drive to the stunning 18th century Hotel de La Mirande for a three night stay.Days 2 to 3 - Avignon
Today meet your private guide for a full day sightseeing tour to include the magnificent papal stronghold of Avignon and the hilltop village of Gordes. Visit the Clock Square before entering the huge Palais des Papes, where seven exiled popes lived between 1309 and 1377 and where the main rooms are decorated with some excellent 14th century frescoes. Just north of Gordes visit the beautiful 12th century Romanesque church, once a stage on the pilgrims’ route to Santiago de Compostella. Your next day is at leisure to explore the area.Day 4 - Avignon/Vence
Take a leisurely drive to Vence and perhaps stop enroute at Aix-en-Provence to see the old centre, the tree-lined boulevards, colourful markets and 101 fountains. Spend the next three nights at the beautiful estate of the Château du Domaine St Martin. Days 5 to 6 - Vence
Enjoy a private guided half day tour of St Paul de Vence, a medieval hilltop village with a 12th to 17th century Gothic church with many works of baroque art and a mecca for artists. The afternoon and next day are at leisure to perhaps explore Vence itself with its high medieval walls and the old cobbled town with delightful little shops full of local produce. The beautiful Verdon Gorges, one of the most dramatic natural sights in Europe or a visit to a perfume factory in Grasse are also within easy reach.Day 7 - Vence/Nice
Take the short drive to Nice for a three night stay at the intimate Hotel La Perouse and enjoy the rest of the day atleisure. Days 8 to 9 - Nice
Today meet your private guide for a half day sightseeing trip in Nice. Explore the beautiful Old Town, the colourful open-air market and take the lift up to the Castelle area for unrivalled views of the city. The afternoon and next day are at leisure to explore the fantastic restaurants, boutiques and cafés of this region. Make time to visit the Roman ruins at Cimiez and the inland village of Eze.Day 10 - Nice/London
Drive to Nice airport in your hire car for your British Airways flight to London-Gatwick.
