Active | Culture

• Beautiful colonial town of Morelia
• Superb shopping at San Miguel
• The relaxing beaches at Zihuatanejo

Day 1 – London/Mexico CityDepart London Heathrow with the British Airways flight to Mexico City. Arrival transfer to The Four Seasons Hotel for three nights.

Day 2 – Mexico City

Morning guided tour of this impressive city including the Metropolitan Cathedral and the National Palace. Continue in the afternoon to Teotihuacan and marvel at the enormous pre-Aztec pyramids, comparable only to those of ancient Egypt.

Day 3 – Cuernavaca and Taxco

Full day with your guide. Enjoy the nearby towns of Cuernavaca, the ‘City of Eternal Spring’ and Taxco, a quaint silver-mining town perched high up on a commanding hill.

Day 4 – Mexico City/San Miguel de Allende

Leave for the charming city of Querétaro with it’s Spanish aqueduct, winding cobbled streets and beautiful baroque churches. After lunch continue to San Miguel de Allende, a unique and beautiful town, home to a colony of artists and a paradise for antiques and arts-and-crafts hunters. Two nights at the Casa de Sierra Nevada.

Day 5 – San Miguel de Allende

Leisurely day exploring the streets and churches of San Miguel. Optional excursion to enjoy lunch in Guanajuato, a nearby town of flowering plazas, grill work balconies, subterranean cobbled streets, colourful houses and the birthplace of Diego Rivera, Mexico’s famous muralist.

Day 6 – San Miguel de Allende/Morelia

Morning drive to Morelia, the best preserved colonial city in Mexico. Founded in 1541 on a high plateau surrounded by mountains, Morelia has retained a charm that makes it reminiscent of the old world. Beside the wonderful pink-stone Cathedral is the Plaza de los Martires, a splendid tree-shaded square surrounded by historical landmarks. Two nights at Villa Montaña.

Day 7 – Morelia

Full day visit to Santa Clara del Cobre to see the local coppersmiths at work. Continue to the archaeological site at Tzintzuntzan, a Tarascan name meaning ‘place of the hummingbirds’ and once the seat of power of the Tarascan Indians.

Day 8 – Morelia/Zihuatanejo

Morning departure to visit Patzcuaro, one of the most picturesque towns in Mexico, with narrow streets, deep overhanging eaves and houses that are painted white and brown. Afternoon drive to the Pacific Coast. Four nights at the Casa Que Canta Hotel.

Days 9 to 11 - Zihuatenjo

Enjoy three full days relaxing on the beautiful Pacific beaches of Zihuatanejo. All the expected beach activities are there for the taking; surfing, waterskiing and scuba diving. However, if you want to avoid the crowds, there are still many ‘off the beaten path’ pristine beaches well away from the hotels.

Day 12 – Zihuatanejo/London

Morning transfer to the airport at Zihuatanejo, for the flight to Mexico City. Connect with the British Airways flight to London Heathrow. Arrive day 13.
