Clipper OdysseyThe 118-passenger ‘Clipper Odyssey’ provides superior on-board comfort while sailing to remote and off-the-beaten-path destinations. A fleet of on-board Zodiac dinghies enables all passengers to explore and land anywhere nature or curiosity dictates. All of A&K’s Odyssey voyages are accompanied by destination experts and lecturers individually selected for each sailing, so that you know the stories behind all that you see. All staterooms have an ocean view, private well-appointed bathroom, sitting area with sofa, individual temperature controls, in-room music system and television. An INMARSAT telecommunications system permits email access. Public areas include a window-lined dining room featuring international cuisine, a lounge, library, gym, outdoor pool, hair salon and a well-stocked gift shop. An infirmary is staffed with an accredited physician on every voyage. On-board the ship all meals, drinks (except premium brand) and gratuities are included. Bridging the Bering Sea ItineraryFor centuries, the Bering Strait has been an artery for human beings as well as wildlife crossing between Asia and the Americas. Clipper Odyssey discovers remote islands of the Bering Sea which have largely provided ‘stepping stones’ for this crossing. From the coastline of the Russian Far East to Alaska’s outermost Pribilof and Aleutian Islands, this expedition voyage will trace the roots of their former inhabitants as a wildlife spectacular unravels en route.14 July – London/AnchorageDepart from London Heathrow for Anchorage, Alaska. Evening arrival transfer to the Alyeska Resort for a two-night stay.15 July - Anchorage

Day at leisure. This evening enjoy an evening at the hotel with the official artist and a champion of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.

16 July - Anchorage/Nome/Embark Clipper OdysseyTransfer to the airport and fly to Nome, one of Alaska’s furthermost outposts. Enjoy a tour of Nome before embarking Clipper Odyssey. 17 July - King Island Stilt Village, Little Diomede IslandVisit the abandoned stilt-village of King Island and then remote Little Diomede, located on the International Dateline and the international border, where we can look across to ‘tomorrow’ and Big Diomede in Russia. 18 July - Provideniya, Russia/Bering Sea Cruising Clear customs for Russia in Provideniya, Russia’s ‘Gateway to the Arctic’ (losing one day as we cross the International Dateline). This afternoon we voyage across the Bering Sea. 20 July - Big Diomede/Cape Deshnev, Russia Visit Big Diomede Island, the world’s easternmost land mass (just on the edge of the International Dateline). Later, visit Cape Deshnev at the eastern edge of the Chukhi Peninsula and Siberian Russia.21 July - Yttygran Island/Provideniya, Russia Arrive at Yttygran Island and experience the centuries-old mysteries of ‘Whalebone Alley’. After clearing customs, return across the International Dateline to Alaska (gaining one day).21 July - St Lawrence Island/Gambell, Alaska Visit St Lawrence Island, where the distinct Yup’ik Eskimo culture and dialect is a reminder of the cultural transition across the former ‘Land Bridge’ of the Bering Strait. Whalebones, fish-drying racks and umiaks (traditional walrus skin boats) are part of the landscape. 22 July - Hall/St Matthew Islands, Alaska Many seabirds nest in tiny Hall and St Matthew Islands, including the indigenous McKay’s bunting. The cliffs of Cape Upright soar 1,000 feet above sea level providing excellent nesting areas for many of the islands’ bird species.23 July – The Pribilof Islands, Alaska The Pribilof Islands are home to the world’s largest colonies of northern fur seals, and many seabird species including horned puffins and crested auks. You will also be introduced to the Aleut people’s remote way of life.24 July - The Great Upwelling/Unalaska/Dutch Harbour/Baby Islands As we arrive in the Aleutian Islands, spot whales and seabirds from the deck. This is the area of The Great Upwelling, where rising micro-organisms create one of the world’s best ocean feeding grounds. Enjoy a stop at Dutch Harbour, before cruising amongst the islands and learning how this section of the ‘Pacific Ring of Fire’ was formed.25 July - Unga Spit/Shumagin Islands/Alaska We explore the coastline and look for Arctic fox, bald eagles and seals, before visiting the seabirds of the neighbouring Shumagin Islands.
