Formerly a private Presidential retreat, Chichele occupies one of the most breathtaking sites in the entire South Luangwa National Park. Since the original structures, built circa 1960, the building has been transformed to create a spectacular safari lodge, designed to complement its natural surroundings.
Accommodation
In order to exploit the wonderful floodplain vistas offered by the site, ten air-conditioned, elegant cottages are built along the edge of the hillside, each providing private panoramic views. Each suite includes en suite facilities and is equipped with a mini-bar, tea/coffee facilities, mosquito nets as well as hair dryer.
Facilities
The lodge also boasts a relaxing swimming pool as well as a well stocked curio shop, perfect for a holiday souvenir. Meals may be served in a variety of locations, the luxurious indoor dining room or on the scenic verandah and boma area outside. Game drives are conducted in open 4x4 vehicles, driven by qualified, professional guides. Night game drives using spotlights to enable guests to see nocturnal animals such as leopard and spotted hyena. Game walks are also offered.
