Robin loves to travel. Whether it be a short weekend in Europe or an epic journey in the Far East; any chance to get away and see something new, his bags are packed ready to go. From close encounters with wildlife, and landscapes that take your breath away to beer with quirky locals, and swinging in a hammock by the sea he has loved every minute of his travels. These experiences have taught him a lot about the world and what we could be missing out on.
Now, with A&K, Robin can share my experiences and journey to the far reaches of the world. In style.
Last five countries visited?
Morocco, Greece, Corsica, Sweden, Panama
What has been your favourite travel experience?
Spending an utterly magical hour with mountain gorillas in Uganda.
Favourite/most impressive natural wonder?
Ciudad Perdida, Colombia. As grand as Machu Picchu but in the middle of the Amazon and no-one else around. The 6 days of trekking in the Amazon and 1,200 steps to the city itself was totally worth it.
Favourite animal?
The noble warthog
The best hotel/lodge that you have stayed in?
Not a hotel or lodge but a hut in Torres del Paine National Park, Chile. It was right by a beautiful lake overlooking Glacier Grey. The sunset was unbelievable.
Your favourite restaurant?
Carnivore in Nairobi
Your favourite guide?
Pablo in the Pantanal. A man of few words but he could spot a monkey from miles away.
Essential item that you always take with you on your travels?
A Buff, highly versatile and useful for so many things you would never think of.
Your one luxury when you travel?
Twinings Earl Grey tea bags
What's your best piece of travel advice?
Smile lots and chat with the locals.
Where you would like to visit next and why?
I would most like to visit Burma next. It is really untouched by tourism and it would be fascinating to be somewhere with so much to offer without the crowds of tourists around me.
Guest Testimonial
"Tea is totally unique - her knowledge of the local area is unsurpassed. Mishlav has a love of his city and it shows. We learnt more from Ivo in a morning than we could find out in the previous six months. I would thoroughly recommend every single one of them - they are all a credit to A&K "![]()
