  • Sit in open-mouthed awe as the giants of the whale-laden waters throw themselves up from the sea or curiously approach your boat.
  • Hike to a petrified forest to see what the world looked like 60 million years ago
  • Visit Bahia Bustamente, a self-sufficient eco village characterised by its biodiversity

Day 1 - Puerto Madryn
The sleepy town of Trelew is today your wardrobe to Narnia, flying here opens you to the world of the Valdes Peninsular where sea lions, elephant seals and huge penguin colonies loiter beside families of humbling Southern Right Whales. With an unspoilt terrain of both inhospitable and otherworldly beauty this wild landscape of treeless plains, steep cliffs and fading lighthouses is home to some of the greatest wildlife Argentina has to offer.
Straight in at the deep end today you will visit the protected area of El Doradillo where the whales meet to mate and feed their newly born in unforgettable displays. The breezy seaside resort of Puerto Madryn is your base and you'll have time to visit the Ecocentro, a cultural centre where you can learn not only of the vibrant sea life but of the ñandus (ostriches), guanacos, Patagonian hares and armadillos that brave the gales of the trekable landscape on your doorstep.

Day 2 - Puerto Madryn
You'll strike out to Puerto Pirámides this morning to make the most of these whale-laden waters. Navigating the seas of what must be one of the worlds most iconic whale watching spots, the lucky will gaze in awe at these giants jumping out of the waters or be hypnotised as one curiously swims up to the boat to play. A bucket list experience if ever we dreamt one!
You'll have time to relax back at your hotel later or if you prefer to keep exploring visit a sea lion colony, observe the startlingly varied birdlife or live out your Indiana Jones fantasies and take a short trek to hunt for fossils.

Day 3 - Bahia Bustamante

The tiny and remote settlement of Bahía Bustamante is a self-sufficient eco village that welcomes visitors with characteristic crooked-smile-charm to its traditional, conservation led community. It's situated on a landscape of huge biological diversity with endless steppe on one side and the raging ocean the other.
Seaweed and Sheep farming are this history-seeped town's main livelihoods and rewards visitors with plenty of opportunities to learn about both important economies.

Day 4 - Peninsula Gravina

Sailing through silent seaweed fields watching photogenic locals at work during the traditional harvest practice is a unique experience in itself, throw into the mix island lazing sea lion colonies and perhaps a migrating whale or two and it becomes quite a spectacular one!
After a downright dreamy morning head to Peninsula Graviña where over 50 miles of fine sand beaches are kissed by sheltering red rocks. It makes a stunning natural playground where biking, trekking or 4x4 cruising is possible. Spend an afternoon being as active as you please but make sure, if the tide is low, that you take a dip in the natural swimming pools formed by the rocks –a little chilly in Winter, sublime in Summer but we recommend trying all year round!

Day 5 - Puerto Madryn
Ever wanted to know what the landscape looked like 60 million years ago, when Patagonia was but an orchard and before the Andes rose high into those endless clear skies? Zoom off in a 4WD to see just that this morning and hike to the heart of 'The Pyramid' –the Petrified Forest that startles on the land. Skip along the trail you share with leggy guanacos, kooky armadillos, families of foxes and possibly even the odd stinky skunk!
Head down to the local coral this afternoon and learn the traditional sheep shearing process the local farmers employ.

Day 6 - Bahia Bustamante

This may be the end of this part of your naturalist adventure but as we will take you back to Comodoro Rivadavia airport, we highly recommend you use it as a springboard to explore the rest of this epic country, a true dream for lovers of the natural world.
