THE HOTEL
Superbly located, with the Coral Sea and the Daintree Rainforest on its doorstep, Anagsana Great Barrier Reef is a wonderful slice of relaxed tropical paradise. Designed by Leigh Ratcliffe, a globally respected architect specializing in tropical resorts, Anagsana has a village charm, with open-air restaurants overlooking the beach, and spa rooms with ocean views - though the interiors are super-slick and stylish to a fault.
Each of the resort's 67 suites have floor to ceiling glass doors, allowing the sea breeze to float in, and opening onto private terraces and gardens. Inside, they are beautifully put together. Clean, angular lines abound, whilst muted and earthy colours lend a contemporary ambiance, and sumptuous furnishings soften the overall feel. With pure white floor tiles continuing onto private terraces, they create a real sense of barefoot luxury.
All year round; many parts of the country are perfect, even in the middle of the year. The climate ranges from tropical (Darwin) to semi-desert (Alice Springs), humid temperate (Brisbane and Sydney), cool temperate (Melbourne and Hobart) and Mediterranean (Perth and Adelaide).
