Of all the Caribbean islands, Barbados is perhaps the best known for their exclusive hotels and chic restaurants making this island the perfect choice for Barbados luxury holidays.
Barbados luxury holidays with Abercrombie & Kent are exclusive and diverse, taking in the most remarkable locations and the island's finest accommodation.
The original charm and friendliness of the Bajan people is still very much the way of life. It is a small island and the most easterly of the Caribbean Islands, with the Atlantic surf on the east coast and the sparkling Caribbean waters on the west coast – holidays to Barbados are the perfect setting for a honeymoon offering contrasts and relaxation among landscapes that roll with fields of sugar cane scattered among brightly coloured villages.
Captain Powell landed on Barbados in 1625 and claimed the island for England. Today, Barbados still has an endearingly British atmosphere and cricket is the national sport. But despite the British influence, Barbados holidays will demonstrate that West Indian culture is very much evident in the food, music and local people. A full range of cuisine is available to suit every palate, but don't go home without trying flying fish, the national dish of Barbados.
Football, rugby, polo, horse racing, surfing and of course cricket events fill the sporting calendar and there is hardly a month that goes by without some sort of festival. The year begins with the Jazz Festival in January attracting international performers but perhaps the most popular festival is the three week Crop-Over. Starting in mid July it celebrates the end of the sugar cane harvest with a multitude of colourful processions, a possible highlight of all luxury Barbados holidays during this time.

Having just returned from a truly wonderful trip, I wanted to tell you how impressed we were with your part in this. (Debbie Rawnsley)
We loved the itinerary, we loved the service levels, we loved the guides and above all we loved the experience of this unique culture with its overwhelming ‘otherness’, its politesse, its perfection its precision, its history, its gardens, its architecture and its charm. So, well done
