4.MV Eclipse or MC Athala

ECUADOR’S GALAPAGOS >

Darwin’s living laboratory, a thousand miles east of Ecuador, is a nature-lover’s treasure trove. The MV Eclipse only carries 48 passengers but has all the amenities of a larger ship, while the MC Athala is a superb 16-passenger catamaran. Both include luxurious rooms and suites, Jacuzzis on deck and plenty of space for whale watching. A voyage on either vessel is accompanied by our expert naturalist guides with twice-daily excursions to the different islands interspersed with snorkelling and swimming, where you can see turtles, penguins, reef sharks and hammerheads. You may even find yourself pirouetting underwater with a curious young sea lion – they love interacting with humans.

5.Sanctuary Ananda

MYANMAR’S AYEYARWADY >

With its sublime landscapes, rich history, serene people and Buddhist culture, Myanmar’s heritage and traditional lifestyle remarkably untouched. Sanctuary Ananda, which launched in November 2014, is a luxurious all-suite ship, custom built by local shipbuilders using age-old knowledge and traditional materials, while incorporating the most modern technology. She has a specially designed shallow draft enabling her to navigate the rivers of Myanmar even when water levels are low, while other boats remain docked. Sanctuary Ananda is named after the Ananda temple, which translates as ‘extreme happiness’. And extreme happiness is what you’ll find relaxing on your private balcony as you sail away from the tourist paths and through the lush jungles, forgotten villages and ancient towns of the north, almost to the Indian border.
