Argentina is big, beautiful and unbelievably glamorous. Scenically enchanting, it is full of geographical wonders and rich in sensual delights. Everything begins in Buenos Aires, the so-called 'Paris of Latin America', where open-air cafes spill onto wide avenues and elegant boulevards are filled by the romantic sounds of tango. With some of South America's best museums, theatres, art galleries and designer boutiques, there is no shortage of things to do and see. Step out of the capital to watch the roaring Iguazú Falls and delve into the rich tropical Iberá Wetlands, or in contrast, the northwest is like a Wild West film set, with dusty cowboy towns, cacti and white-washed churches.

Further south in Cordoba you'll find clean air, laid-back villages, home-style food, Andean views and adventures galore. Here you can stay on an estancia and explore the countryside on foot or horseback, watch the gauchos at work and get to know your hosts over fine meals. Travel west to the foothills of the Andes or further south, to the volcanic Lake District and explore a stunning vista reflecting the dramatic peaks of the cordillera, a great place for a self-drive adventure.

Argentina's wild coast, the Peninsula Valdes, is a wildlife haven, attracting whale, penguin and sea lion, while further south still are the mountains of the Patagonian Steppe, where snow dusts the peaks amid beautiful lakes and majestic glaciers, and on to Tierra del Fuego, the 'uttermost end of the world' and gateway to Cape Horn.

Argentina with A&K
Argentina inspires a torrent of dazzling prose from returning guests. You've told us about learning to make empanadas under an old walnut tree beneath the Andes: an afternoon with penguins rather than humans on Valdes Peninsula followed by divine lemon meringue pie with a local family: and of galloping across the Iberá wetlands to enjoy a sundowner amongst its prolific birdlife.

On every occasion A&K's outstanding local staff enhanced your experience. Never more so than in Buenos Aires when our group's supper was plunged into darkness by a power cut. The guide's reaction? To serenade her guests with an aria from La Traviatta, earning a standing ovation from the restaurant. It later emerged she's also a soprano who has performed in many of the city's best theatres.

We can't promise every guide has such an entertaining second string but we're certain they know their country inside out and will happily provide unforgettable and authentic experiences. They're part of our exceptional team, renowned for its creative itineraries - tango classes with the famous Elsa Maria y Mayoral and spectacular drives in vintage cars - the best vehicle fleet around and seamless travel links to South American countries.

Take a holiday to Argentina with Abercrombie & Kent and we'll show you incredible landscapes, warm hospitality and a sophisticated capital, all with a dash of European flair. Buzzing Buenos Aires boasts neighbourhoods including historic San Telmo and fashionable Palermo. Head west across the pampas to Mendoza and witness extraordinary architecture beneath the vertiginous wall of the Andes. The north offers Salta's mesmerizing rock formations and the Iguazú Falls, kissing the lush Brazilian border with up to 300 cascades. And it's equally spectacular in the deep south where Patagonia mixes mountains and lakes with showstoppers including toothpaste blue Perito Moreno Glacier.
