Casa do Amarelindo
Why we like it
- Casa do Amarelindo is ideally located within the deeply atmospheric Pelourinho district of Salvador
- The restaurant serves locally inspired cuisine, particularly focused on local seafood dishes such as the fish stew, 'moqueca'
- The hotel has a lovely roof-top pool
- The hotel welcomes children over the age of 14
- Panormaic views from the rooftop offer an ideal sunset spot
Some rooms have private terraces with panoramic views across the city or All Saints Bay
The Hotels you (Charlie Lockwood) selected were superb in Peru, Chile, Argentina and Brazil, what a pleasure it has been to stay in the Belmond Hotels, everyone was so helpful, and the Four Seasons in Buenos Aires was equally superb

Casa do Amarelindo is a beautifully restored townhouse amidst the colourful cobbled streets of Salvador's historic Pelourinho district. Behind a colonial archway lie cool terracotta floors, whitewashed walls and tropical courtyards. This charming hotel offers a wonderful respite from the cheerful bustle of the town.
The 10 quiet, simple yet pleasant rooms are decorated in a local Bahia style with a touch of the African influence so characteristic of the region. All have huge beds dressed with high-quality cotton linen, air conditioning and double-glazed French windows, plasma TVs, DVD and CD players. The colonial theme is represented in wrought-iron bedsteads and antique dark-wood furniture.
The roof top terrace is an exceptional vantage point and a great spot for drinks or dinner whilst enjoying panoramic views of this UNESCO World Heritage town.
