THE HOTEL
Dating back to the 16th Century, this former monastery was originally commissioned by the First Order of Carmelite Friars. The building has been lovingly restored to create a superb, atmospheric hotel with two cloistered courtyards at its heart.
The 80 or so rooms and suites, once monks' chambers, blend modern design and comfort with restored antiques and striking works of art to create comfortable, homely spaces. All are equipped with large, comfortable beds dressed in Egyptian cotton linen.
The Convento is ideally located near the historical highlights of Pelourinho and, as such, is both a perfect base from which to explore and an ideal escape from the intensity of the city.
Our consultant (Annie Jensen) really was excellent designing a great itinery minimising our time waiting around for transfers and both hotels, Four Seasons Bali and Oberoi Lombok exceeded our expections.
