The Hotels you (Charlie Lockwood) selected were superb in Peru, Chile, Argentina and Brazil, what a pleasure it has been to stay in the Belmond Hotels, everyone was so helpful, and the Four Seasons in Buenos Aires was equally superb

This delightful small hotel is located within a traditional caiçara fishing village inside the attractive Serra do Mar State Park. The hotel overlooks a peaceful bay along the forested coastline that runs between Rio and São Paulo and is a fantastic place to recharge your batteries. The 10 simple, comfortable rooms – including one large romantic suite with sea views and Jacuzzi – overlook lush tropical gardens surrounding the pool; private villas are also available. Picinguaba has a relaxed feeling and showcases the very best of Brazil’s hospitality. The surrounding area has deserted islands, beaches and pristine rainforest and waterfalls to explore. Head to the three kilometre-long sandy beach, or relax in one of the spacious common rooms. The drawing room is the ideal place for observing the hummingbirds or enjoying teas and coffees prepared by the hotel’s barista, accompanied by homemade cakes. The cuisine on offer includes local specialities and plenty of fresh seafood. The hotel has its own farm at sister hotel Fazenda Catuҫaba which produces much of the food on offer and also takes guests.
