Olinda is built on a hill amidst lush tropical vegetation that sweeps down to the sea and as you wander up and down the steep streets you are surrounded by colonial architecture.
Throughout the north of Brazil there are local markets, buzzing with colour, selling cashews, leather goods, lace, hammocks, t-shirts, sand art and even brightly coloured fish to hang on your wall. The surrounding trees are alive with the sound of the tropical birds that nest in them.
