Bagan Thiripyitsaya Sanctuary Resort
Why we like it
- Situated on the banks of the legendary Ayeyawady River
- Suites have huge stone bath tubs so you can soak while enjoying river views
- Centrally located in the heart of old Bagan
- The resort's restaurant is known for it's fresh, innovative cuisine
- A short walk to the museum of Bagan's history
The Fruit Shakes served at the hotel's bar are all locally grown and in season, blended and created in front you. Papaya and Mango were our personal favourites, a nice refresher after a day exploring Bagan's mysterious temples.
I would also like to make special mention of Thida Win - she is an absolutely wonderful guide - very kind, patient, knowledgeable and a consummate professional in undertaking her job. She made sure that everything happened seamlessly without any hitches whatsoever - she is a great advert for A&K and for Myanmar.
Bagan Thiripyitsaya Sanctuary Resort is situated on the banks of the Ayeyarwady, Myanmar's river of history and legend. The resort sprawls over 24 acres of landscaped gardens, which is home to mature tropical trees and flowering plants, as well as native birds and a number of small tame animals. Oriented towards the west, the resort revels in panoramic river views, glorious sunsets and silver moonglow, and a pervading atmosphere of profound peace, warmth and comfort.
The resort has a total of 76 guest rooms, from superior rooms to lavish suites. Each one is decorated in Burmese style, with an abundance of wood and local materials. All conceivable comforts are provided for guests' ease and convenience, from personal safes, mini-bars, individual air conditioning controls, satellite television channels to kimonos and hair dryers.
The Bagan Thripyitsaya Sanctuary Resort has facilities and amenities to fulfill any guests' desire for comfort and relaxation, as well as services to meet their every need. All these are presented with the warm and sincere hospitality of the resort staff.
Best time to be thereMyanmar (Burma) has three clear seasons: from March to May are the very hot summer months, the wet and humid monsoon runs from May to October and the cold dry winter lasts from November to February. The best time of year to visit is late November early December when the rains have gone, the landscape is lush and green and the skies are crystal clear. However any time from late November to March is a good time to travel.
