The Mergui archipelago must be one of the last untouched tropical island systems left on earth. Very few of the 900 or so islands have permanent habitation and save for a few fishermen you'll more than likely encounter nothing but dolphins, verdant green islands, azure blue seas and tropical reefs. The area also lends itself perfectly to sailing, where you can join the curiously elusive Moken sea gypsies and moor at any number of icing-sugar soft beaches for your own private retreat. Out in the Andaman Sea the area is peppered with tiny islets that possess very few place names, the coastline up until recently offlimites to most since the end of World War II. But along with the rest of Myanmar, the archipelago is unfolding as a blossoming beach destination that's also ripe with culture.

Javier Peralta (our guide in Cusco, Machu Picchu and thereabouts) and Edwin Frisancho Carrasco (driver in same place) were both simply AMAZING! We have been to different parts of the world and have had lots of different guides but these two people were the best we have experience by a mile.
