Pyin Oo Lwin
The former British Colonial hill station of Maymyo, also known as Pyin Oo Lwin, sits at an altitude of 3510 feet, offering a respite from the intense heat of the lowlands during summer months. The town became a permanent military post in 1896, and acted as the summer capital during British rule.
The jewel in this area is the beautiful botanical gardens with rose beds and orchid houses spend an afternoon here enjoying the scenery and a stroll around the lake. This region is rich in orchids with seasonal fruits including oranges, strawberries and pineapples. In the winter months it can get quite cold can temperatures can drop as low as 2 degrees. Pyin Oo Lwin offers an interesting destination for visitors to Upper Myanmar.

In Chiang Mai we were met by Aung, who was also lovely and took care of us very well. Once again I am so glad that you recommended the 137 Pillars House, it was perfect and I would have happily stayed there some more days.
