Board your overnight Thai Airways flight from Heathrow to Siem Reap, via Bangkok.
Day 2 - Siem Reap
Arrive into Siem Reap and transfer to the Raffles Grand Hotel D'Angkor for three nights. This afternoon visit the spectacular site of Angkor Wat, returning to the hotel just after sunset.
Day 3 - Siem Reap
After breakfast, visit the South Gate of the walled city of Angkor Thom, before continuing to the Bayon, at its centre, and the Terrace of the Elephants. As the day heats up, visit shady twelfth century Preah Khan and magical Ta Prohm. Originally built as a Buddhist monastery, Ta Prohm has been left to the ravages of the jungle, unlike most of the other Angkor temples. Tree roots interweave between the stonework as the jungle creeps ever closer. This afternoon visit intricate Banteay Srei, a beautiful and well-preserved tenth century temple. En route to Banteay Srei, your guide will show you around one of the thirty local villages where A&K Philanthropy has helped to build a series of wells to provide fresh water to the residents, under the guidance of our local guide Sam. You may also visit the Landmine Museum and meet Aki Ra, the founder of the museum. He began his life as a child living in the countryside prior to the Khmer Rouge Revolution. His mother and father were killed during the Pol Pot regime and he soon found himself living in a Khmer Rouge camp for children.
Day 4 - Siem Reap
Enjoy a morning boat trip on the Tonle Sap river, before visiting the Sunrise Orphanage house. This afternoon visit Artisan d'Angkor and explore the colourful local market.
Day 5 - Siem Reap/Phnom Penh
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Phnom Penh. On arrival, check-in to Hotel Le Royal for two nights. This afternoon, visit the glittering Royal Palace and the Silver Pagoda, an oasis of calm in the centre of this busy city. Afterwards visit the National Museum, home to the most important collections of ancient Cambodian culture.
Day 6 - Phnom Penh
This morning visit the Toul Sleng Genocide Museum for an insight into the horrors suffered by the Cambodian people. Afterwards visit the notorious killing fields of Choeung Ek. The rest of the day will be at leisure.
Day 7 - Phnom Penh/Sihanoukville
After breakfast, drive to the beach resort of Sihanoukville (226 km/approximately 3 hours drive). Check-in to the Sokha Beach Hotel for two nights and enjoy the rest of the day to laze on the sand.
Day 8 - Sihanoukville
After breakfast, drive to Ream National Park (approximately 30 minutes drive) to spend the day exploring the natural environment of mangroves, sandy beaches, coral reefs and a wide diversity of flora and fauna.
