THE HOTEL
Explora Atacama is located on a plain known as the Ayllu de Larache, once inhabited by an ancient Atacameño community. In the area surrounding the lodge, their ancient pathways and buildings have been maintained, and form a labyrinth that invites exploration.
Architecturally superb, the hotel buildings are designed to exist in harmony with the surrounding landscapes, and its own 17 hectares of grounds. Broad overhanging roofs provide shade to the interior and walkways, whilst the central building was designed to provide views of both the oasis nearby and the Andean peaks in the distance. The stone paving evokes the color and roughness of the area's salt flats.
The hotel's 50 rooms housed are in three long buildings, positioned to form a central square planted with large trees for ample shade. All are tastefully designed with wooden ceilings and floors made of stone and tiles. Each has a small living area, a hydromassage bath and beds designed for deep, pleasurable sleep after a day of exploration.
