Chile, 11 Nights

Day 1 - London/Santiago
Depart from London Heathrow with LAN Airlines to Santiago de Chile, via Madrid.

Day 2 - Santiago
Morning arrival and transfer to the Ritz Carlton Hotel. Afternoon tour to enjoy the highlights of Chile's capital city including a visit to La Moneda Presidential Palace and San Cristobal Hill.

Day 3 - Santiago/Lake District
Morning flight south to Temuco, one of the principal gateways to the Chilean Lake District. This region boasts many of the country's most famous National Parks with dazzling emerald lakes, lush green forests and impressive snow-capped volcanoes. It is also home to Chile's most prominent indigenous Mapuche community. Transfer to the hotel in Pucon, via the Chol-Chol and Padre Las Casas communities, conserving the traditions and customs of the Mapuche people. Three nights at the Hotel Villarrica Park Lake.

Day 4 - Lake District
Morning visit to one of only two volcanic caves in the world open to visitors. Afternoon relaxing at the 'El Huife' thermal baths, popular with visitors and locals alike for its idyllic baths and setting.

Day 5 - Lake District
At leisure. Options include a visit to the beautiful Huerquehue or Villarrica National Park or the chance to raft the Trancura River, one of the most exciting rivers in Chile.

Day 6 - Lake District/Santiago/Atacama
Transfer to the airport for your flight, via Santiago, to Calama in the Atacama Desert. Calama is your gateway to the geological and archaeological wonders of the central desert. It is the world's driest landscape, where rain has not fallen since the days of the Spanish rule. Transfer to the oasis town of San Pedro de Atacama. Four nights at Alto Atacama Lodge & Spa just 3 miles outside San Pedro.

Days 7 to 9 - Atacama

A full three days of adventure lie ahead. Among many options are archaeological sites, thermal springs, dramatic lunar landscapes and spectacular salt flats. There is time to take six or seven options from a choice of over 30 excursions. There is hiking and climbing, as well as opportunities for bicycling and horse riding. A visit to the village of San Pedro de Atacama is also a worthwhile option.

Day 10 - Atacama/Santiago/Santa Rita
Return flight from the world's driest desert to one of the world's most fertile wine-growing regions just two hours outside Santiago. Overnight at Casa Real, in the Santa Rita Vineyard.

Day 11 - Santa Rita/London

Morning at leisure. Transfer to the airport to board your overnight LAN Airlines flight back to London via Madrid. Arrive day 12.
