Best time to be there

As the climate varies hugely from north to south, different places are best at different times, although spring (September to December) is universally good. Atacama can be visited year-round, central Chile enjoys a Mediterranean climate with good weather throughout. Patagonia is best for hiking in Spring or Summer.

NEED TO KNOW

  • Casa Silva is located in the Colchagua Valley and is the perfect base for those wishing to combine explorations of the numerous vineyards with great food and an off-the-beaten-path boutique atmosphere
  • The hotel is home to one of the country's finest restaurants, and Latin America's only Master Sommelier
  • There is a lovely courtyard swimming pool
  • Other facilities and activities include a winery and bar, wine tastings, polo matches, horse-drawn carriages, and rodeo displays

THE HOTEL
The Viña Casa Silva opened this exquisite hotel and restaurant in 2005.  Once the founding farmhouse of the estate, Casa Silva is an authentic Colchagua Valley house and typically Chilean in design - a recent renovation has added all the creature comforts, without compromising on the building's history and traditions.

The rooms are beautifully presented, with polished wooden floors, pure white wooden panel detailing and sophisticated wall coverings throughout.  Furnishings are simple, yet elegant and supremely comfortable, whilst small details like the lime-washed doors add a rustic, ranch flavour.

In terms of wine, Casa Silva is best known for its reds, of which the highlight is the award-winning Carménère, the signature grape of Chile. Guests have no shortage of opportunities to sample this and many other wines, in the oldest and most traditional winery in the Colchagua Valley.

Guest Testimonial

First experience with A&K. Intended to ask various travel companies for quotes but Vicky (Agnew) was so good with her suggestions that we did not seek alternative quotations the suggested itinerary was excellent and helped us decide on a balanced and interesting holiday.
