We are now offering special summer river camp created for children. There are two sailings on 10th - 14th July 2011 and 7th - 11th August 2011. There are plenty of activities created just for the children onboard. All children (under the age of 12 at the time of sailing) will stay for free during the summer months, when sharing a cabin with two full paying adults. Special programs include photo scavenger hunt, Chinese calligraphy classes, Chinese arts and craft, Mandarin language classes, special children's menu.
Day 1 - Yichang, on board the Sanctuary M.S. Yangzi Explorer
6:00pm: Embark Sanctuary M.S. Yangzi Explorer for your cruise to Yichang. The ship will set sail on its upstream course the following morning through the Three Gorges region. The total length of this cruise is 660 kilometers (402 miles) and is considered by most Chinese to represent the single most scenic area in all of China.
8:30pm: Movie and Popcorn - Enjoy a wholesome movie with the whole family in our Tang Theatre. Documentary Film of Three Gorges Dam Project - showing in room channel (English & Chinese).
Day 2 - Xiling George & Three Gorges dam project
7:00am: Tai Chi Exerciser - start of your morning with a traditional Chinese exercise and work up an appetite for the buffet breakfast. Learn from our certified Taichi master and experience the soothing art form in the outdoor Observation Deck area or inside at the Tang Theater.
7:30am - 8:45am: International Buffet Breakfast - Enjoy a full hearty buffet breakfast to start of your first day on the Yangzi journey. Buffet breakfast to be served at the Dynasty Palace.
8:30am: Xiling Gorge Viewing - (the Three Gorges Dam sits in the first part of the Xiling Gorge) is the longest of the Gorges, measuring some 76 kilometers (47 miles) in length. Enjoy the view of the river where the river widens and sweeps through groves of orange and pomelo trees (a variety of citrus related to the grapefruit).
10:15am - 12:00pm: Three Gorges Project Dam Site and Exhibition Center - arrive at the Three Gorges Dam Project site and embark on a tour of the area (this tour will serve as a general introduction to the project site, which, currently, is the world's largest hydro electric project). The Three Gorges Dam Project began in 1992 and was completed in 2009. The dam is the largest dam on earth, generating 18,200 megawatts of hydroelectricity (almost 50% more than the the Itaipu Dam in Brazil and Paraguay). The dam is 1.2 miles in length and measures 600 feet (185 meters) in height. The dam have 26 generators that when is in full operation, can generate enough clean energy to reduce China's reliance on coal by up to 50 million tons annually. Followed by lunch at 12 midday.
2:00pm - 5:30pm: Children Peking Opera Mask Painting Adult Lectures and Discussions - Tang Theatre. Followed by a Children Digital Camera Scavenger Hunt - follow a list of clues and and capture the answers by cameras. Figure out the most correct answers and receive a special prize. Adult Arts & Craft Demonstration. Complimentary afternoon tea with pastry - served at the Explorer Bar. Followed by Children East Meets West Language & Culture Exchange Adult Chinese Medicine Demonstration
6:30pm: Captain's Welcome Reception - meet with the captain and other department heads of the ship. A la Carte welcome dinner - enjoy our wide selection of items from our specially designed a la carte menu by our international award winning chef. Followed by Crew Cabaret.
Day 3 - Shennong Stream Excursion/Qutang Gorge/WU Gorge
7:00am: Tai Chi Exerciser - Observation Deck area or inside at the Tang Theater. Followed by international buffet breakfast - served at the Dynasty Palace
8:30am - 1:00pm: Cruising Shennong Stream - Enjoy an one hour ferry ride through the breathtaking scenery of the smaller gorges and then transfer to a sampan poled by Tujia boatmen. Children Photo Capture Pursue on Shennong stream. With international lunch buffet - served at the Dynasty Palace
2:00pm: Wu Gorge viewing - The Wu Gorge is known for the 12 famous peaks including the Goddess Peak. Children - Mandarin 102 - conversational Mandarin. Arts & Craft Demonstration. Children Cooking lesson with chef Victor - learn from our executive chef on board in culinary creation that are both tasty and safe for children of all ages. Qutang Gorge Viewing - during the late afternoon your ship will enter the Qutang Gorge through the majestic two imposing cliffs at the Kui Men Gate, which marks the western extremity of the gorge. Followed by complimentary afternoon tea with pastry - served at the Explorer Bar. Children & Adult Family Game - Movie music "Name that Tune". Also Children East Meets West Language & Culture Exchange 2 Adult Lecture & Discussion
7:00pm: A la Carte Dinner. Children Evening Pajama Party and Game Night!!! Movie and Popcorn - enjoy a wholesome movie with the whole family in our Tang Theatre.
Day 4 - Fengdu
7:00am: Tai Chi Exerciser - to be at Oberservation Deck or Tang Theatre (weather pending). Followed by international buffet breakfast - served at the Dynasty Palace.
8:30am: Fengdu Shore Excursion - venture into the ghost temple where the Chinese believe the souls
would gather after they past away, or alternatively explore the real life of the Yangzi River. Followed by international lunch buffet - served at the Dynasty Palace and Children Music lesson - learn to play with the on board band "Stardust Duo". Adult Arts & Craft Demonstration
3:15pm: Children Folk Dances Class. Adult Mahjong lesson - learn and understand the favorite past-time of the Chinese. With complimentary afternoon tea with pastry - served at the Explorer Bar
5:30pm: Children & Adult Dumpling Making Class - learn how to make one of the most wildly recognized food of China from our Chinese chef on board. Children & Adult Family BINGO. With Emperor Farewell dinner - enjoy a proper Chinese banquet feast and participate by dressing up along with the crew. Attend dinner with any items from the Orient. Enjoy and have fun! Followed by Crew Farewell Show
Day 5 - Disembark in Chongqing
7:30am: International buffet breakfast - served at the Dynasty Palace followed by disembarkation.
