Yunnan Province is the most southwest region of China bordering the countries of Vietnam, Laos, and Burma. Its natural beauty defies description, with mountain ranges and glaciers that are snow-capped all year round, deep virgin forests, lakes and hot springs, alpine landscapes, precipitous valleys, beautiful farmlands, mountain rivers and valley streams, floral splendour that blooms throughout the year, and vast skies with amazing clouds. It is home to more than 18,000 plant species (the greatest number of plant species in China) and an incredible array of animals, including the Asian elephant and the protected Yunnan golden monkey.
With a population of more than 42 million, Yunnan is the most culturally diverse province in China counting 25 different ethnic minorities amongst its residents,. This multiplicity of cultures has endowed the province with a rich heritage that it shares with all who come to visit. There is always something wonderful to see and do here, whether it be visiting a Dongba village, the Dai Water Splashing Festival, the Third Month Fair of the Bai Nationality or the Torch Festival of the Yi people. Yunnan simply celebrates life.

Self-drive journeys
Until recent times much of Yunnan was cut off from communication with the outside world by precipitous mountainns, including Shangri-La which many believe to be the fabled land referred to in James Milton's Lost Horizon. Today these beautiful landscapes lend themselves perfectly to a driving journey that gives you the freedom to go to these places otherwise near impossible to reach. We can arrange a wide range of journeys for those who love driving and adventure, who want to travel off-the-beaten track but don't want to compromise on comfort. We offer modern international-standard SUVs that are easy to drive, superbly comfortable and defy the quality of ordinary rental SUVs in China; providing your Chinese driving license and insurance and even an experienced driver if you would rather sit back and relax.
