Asia conjures up images of the exotic: rich culture, white sand beaches, bright colours and interesting food, all of which can be found on our Classics Journeys. With so much choice however it's hard to know where to go and when. This is where our experience, local knowledge and behind-the-scenes access are invaluable.
In Thailand you'll experience city, culture and beach. Starting your journey in Bangkok, you'll discover the city like a local; with your private guide you'll see the hidden klongs (canals) by local boat, take a tuk tuk from the magnificent Grand Palace and visit the Emerald Buddha, one of the most sacred sites in the whole of Thailand. The next stops are Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai, where you'll be given a private cooking class to learn more about the distinctive Thai cuisine, and visit elephants and hill tribes in the Golden Triangle. Relax at the end of your trip on the stunning beaches in Phuket.
The food theme continues on our 12 day Classics trip to Vietnam, where you'll have an exclusive street food tour in colonial Hanoi and a private cooking class experiencing the colourful Hoi An Markets. In Halong Bay you'll cruise the dramatic karst scenery and in Ho Chi Minh City you'll have the chance to discover the city by night by vintage Vespa. In Myanmar the highlight has to be three nights aboard the luxurious all-suite Sanctuary Ananda which sails from Bagan to Mandalay. As you cruise along the Ayeyarwady River you'll have the chance to stop off at sights such as the gold leaf-gilded Shwezigon pagoda, U Bein Bridge and the magnificent archaeological temples of Bagan. You'll also be able to experience the city of Yangon and explore the enchanting Inle Lake and its surroundings.
China is diverse, vast and thrilling, yet its sheer size can often be daunting. Our 14 day Classics journey shows you the country's highlights, taking in the great cities of Beijing and Shanghai, the terracotta warriors in Xian and the pandas in Chengdu. You'll also cruise the Yangtze River aboard the Sanctuary Yangzi Explorer, where, starting in Chongqing, you'll spend two days passing through the legendary Three Gorges: Xiling, Wu and Qutang. The voyage is enhanced by shore excursions accompanied by expert historians and naturalists, and on-board you'll be treated to large and luxurious cabins - all with private balconies - gourmet dining, a luxury spa and unrivalled service.
