Fonda Vela Hotel

Monteverde , Costa Rica

NEED TO KNOW

  • All 38 rooms have large windows offering panoramic views over the Gulf of Nicoya or the rainforest
  • Fonda Vela Hotel overlooks the Monteverde Cloud Forest Preserve, a 26,000-acre private reserve of predominantly virgin forest
  • The hotel has two restaurants - the elegant and spacious Galleria with its beautiful, tropical views and the cozy Fireside Room with its wood-burning fireplace
  • There is a large covered pool and two Jacuzzis located on a patio in the gardens
  • Other facilities include a bar and pool table, original works of art throughout the hotel, extensive gardens, and a wealth of excursions and tours
  • Fonda Vela is a child friendly hotel, with many excursions geared towards the interests of children. We recommend the Bajo de Tigre Trail (also known as the children's eternal forest), a transitional forest with trails, an arboretum and a nature centre

THE HOTEL
The Hotel Fonda Vela is located in beautiful Monteverde, famous for its cloud forest and climate - often referred to as "eternal spring". The views of the Gulf of Nicoya from the hotel's 1,400 metre elevation are spectacular, and it is an ideal destination from which to enjoy the wonders of the tropics.

Surrounded by beautiful gardens, the hotel buildings blend into the lush, tropical mountainside. The rooms are cosy, yet elegant, spacious and comfortable. Each room is designed with the surroundings in mind, for example with large windows help to bring the outdoors inside.

Inside, the rooms are beautifully appointed, mixing neutral colours and expanses of polished wood panelling with original artworks and floral patterns to create a homely, cosy feel.

We recommendThe area around the hotel is home to an exceptional biodiversity as well as wonderful landscapes.  Accordingly, a wide range of excursions are designed to ensure guests truly experience the beauty of Costa Rica's highlands.
