Croatia is a country just waiting to be explored and those that holiday in Croatia find not just a beautiful country, but one filled with thousands of years of history. From its favourable location on the Adriatic Sea, it became an ideal stopping point on the mercantile route between Europe and the East and the mixed cultural effect on the country can still be seen with Greek, Roman, French, Austrian and Hungarian influences.

Croatia holidays with Abercrombie & Kent are as spectacularly diverse as this amazing country itself.

What makes Croatia holidays stand out in particular is the country's huge number of beautiful islands, totalling 1,185. Many are inhabited but all are individual, each having a character of their own.

Dubrovnik
is Croatia's most southern city and often referred to as the "jewel of the Adriatic". Its magic has captured the hearts of many visitors, including George Bernard Shaw who was enchanted by this beautiful city a recommended visit during all holidays in Croatia.

Istria
is situated on the North-West coast of Croatia, an emerald sea of pine woods, oak and strawberry trees, with almost a third of the land being covered in forest - a perfect setting for a relaxed Croatia holiday.  The rich cultural and historical past is full of the flavours of Italy, which can be seen throughout the region in the food, language and archaeology. During your Croatia holiday, visit the Roman amphitheatre at Pula, or spend the afternoon wandering around the hilltop village of Groznjan before exploring the mosaics in Porec's ancient basillica.  Alternatively visit the capital of Croatia Zagreb rivalling Budapest and Prague in the popularity stakes.

A "must see" during your Croatia holiday is the Diocletian Palace in Split, built in 295 AD for Roman Emperor Diocletian. It took 10 years to build this magnificent palace and Diocletian lived there until his death in 313 AD.
