Day 1 UK/Vancouver
On arrival a member of the A&K team will transfer you to the Fairmont Waterfront hotel for an overnight stay. Explore the restaurants around Canada Place, close to your hotel, or historic Gastown, the oldest part of the city that started with a saloon built by ‘Gassy Jack’ Deighton to make money from the miners going to the Yukon. The resulting shanty town, called Gas Town, marked the birth of modern Vancouver, whose name was taken from English Naval captain George Vancouver. Now Gastown is known for its hip restaurants and eclectic shops.
Fairmont Waterfront | Meals: Room Only

Day 2 Vancouver/Embarkation
As you will be boarding MS Volendarm at 4pm, you’ll have most of the day to explore this cosmopolitan city, which is regularly voted the world’s top place to live due to its spectacular setting, lively arts scene and vibrant cultural mix. Take the tram to the top of Grouse Mountain, visit picturesque Stanley Park in the city centre or if you’re feeling adventurous, take a scenic float plane ride across the city sights and over the Strait of Georgia where you may spot seals, eagles and dolphins.
MS Volendam | Meals: Full Board

Day 3 The Inside Passage
This is the classic cruising route to Alaska and regarded as one of the world’s most scenic sea-going journeys with its steep mountain and expansive forests. The Inside Passage has been shaped by colossal glaciers and spans Alaska, British Colombia and Washington State. Expect to see a wealth of marine life in these fertile waters, from whales and porpoises to seals and bald eagles.
MS Volendam | Meals: Full Board

Day 4 Tracy Arm Fjord/Juneau
Spectacular Tracy Arm Fjord is famous for the Sawyer Glaciers, located at the end of a 30-mile channel with a 3,000ft towering cliff-face and hundreds of cascading waterfalls. Further north is Alaska’s state capital Juneau, reachable only by air or water, which adds to the remote feel of this former Gold Rush city. Today Juneau is known for its wealth of natural attractions. Jump on a bus to the vast Mendenhall Glacier or soar away on a helicopter ride; visit a salmon hatchery; and take a whale-watching trip. There is also white-water rafting, dog-sledding, sea plane rides and an abundance of hiking trails.
MS Volendam | Meals: Full Board

Day 5 Skagway
This is true Klondike Gold Rush territory, from where thousands of prospectors stampeded to the lucrative Yukon goldfields in the 1890s. As a result, Skagway became a lawless frontier town as well as Alaska’s largest city. Today, the stampede is led by tourists who walk part of the Chilkoot Trail that the original prospectors followed, or ride the narrow-gauge railroad built along the White Pass. There are coach rides along the Klondike Highway, plus dog-sledding, horse-riding and zip-wiring. The main attraction among Skagway’s restored buildings is the Red Onion Saloon, where you can tour its former brothel!
MS Volendam | Meals: Full Board

Day 6 Glacier Bay
Arguably the jewel in the crown of Alaskan cruises, little can prepare you for the sheer magnificence of the Glacier Bay National Park. With its collection of 11 tidewater glaciers spilling into the sea, where they split into small icebergs carved in a variety of cerulean hues, this UNESCO World Heritage Site lives up to its billing as an icy wonderland.  Aside from calving glaciers, the park is renowned for its unique eco-system of plants and animals and rich marine life. Be prepared for breaching humpback whales, orcas, sea otters and seals, while on land you may spot bears, wolves and moose.
MS Volendam | Meals: Full Board

Day 7 Ketchikan
There’s a pioneering feel to this former Indian fishing camp, which was colonised by settlers drawn by its bountiful natural assets. So many salmon canneries opened, Ketchikan became known as the salmon capital of the world. But it is a land of lumberjacks too, thanks to a profusion of sawmills and pulp mills that sprang up here. Another Ketchikan speciality is rain – lots of it. The town is famous as one of the rainiest spots on earth. It is also a good jumping off point for natural adventures: float plane rides along the Misty Fjords, fishing trips, rainforest walking tours, bear-spotting trips and even lumberjack shows.
MS Volendam | Meals: Full Board

Day 8 The Inside Passage
As Volendam makes its way back to Vancouver, take advantage of another chance to absorb the natural beauty of this region with its steep mountainous backdrop.  Look out for the rich wildlife – porpoises, seals and bald eagles, along with packs of killer whales and humpbacks.
MS Volendam | Meals: Full Board

Day 9 Vancouver
On arrival back in Vancouver, a member of the A&K team will transfer you to the airport for your flight home. Alternatively, if you wish to stay longer, add a truly unforgettable journey into the Canadian Rockies aboard the iconic Rocky Mountaineer train. We will be happy to make the arrangements for you.
Fairmont Waterfront | Meals: Room Only

Day 10 Rocky Mountaineer
All aboard the Rocky Mountaineer for a scenic rail journey to Kamloops in the interior of British Columbia. Leaving Vancvouer you will hug the mighty Thompson River, the route of early fur traders, before arriving in Kamloops, where you'll spend the night in a hotel.
Hotel on arrival | Full Board onboard Rocky Mountaineer Silver Leaf

Day 11 -12 Banff
Your home for the next two nights is the stunning Rimrock Resort Hotel, a mere five-minute walk from the hot springs and the gondola.
In your free time you are able to explore Banff and the surrounding national park at your own place. The town offers plenty of excitement, with shopping, cafes, nightlife and museums. We'd recommend taking a ride on the Banff Gondola, where you'll have panoramic views of the Bow Valley.
Rimrock Resort Hotel | Room Only

Day 13 Calgary / UK
After your time in the Rocky Mountain Town of Banff, let us transfer you to Calgary for your international flight home.
