THE HOTEL
Recently transformed to reflect its original 1930s glory, the Saratoga stands in a privileged location, its restored neo-classical façade overlooking the famous Capitolio Building and a short walk away from the Opera House.
Inside, colonial and contemporary design blends effortlessly to create a grand feel that is counterpointed by friendly, helpful service. The 40 Deluxe Patio Rooms and 49 Saratoga Junior Suites are decorated with dark woods, cool linens and warm splashes of colour, whilst the bathrooms are lined in Cuban marble.
The roof terrace is a real treat. With superb views across the city and out towards the ocean in the distance. It is the place to go to relax (in sun or shade), Mojito in hand - and ideal for those iconic, city-scape photos.
Don't forget to visit the Partagás Cigar Factory, which is a few steps away. We saw the famous Cuban cigars hand-crafted by teams of specialists and learned why four different types of leaf are used. Fascinating, even for non-cigar lovers.
Cuba's climate it typically Caribbean with wet and dry seasons. The best time to visit is from November to May with dry and sunny days. Humidity and rainfall increase during the wet season from June to October with an average of 33 degrees, whilst the hurricane season begins in July and usually continues through to October.
