Trinidad is a colonial gem and arguably the most beautiful town in Cuba. It is said the town is still dozing in the 1700s and represents a perfect relic of early Spanish colonialism with several shady plazas, numerous churches and palaces, narrow cobblestone streets and red tiled roofs. The pace of life is slow, horse-drawn carts rattle in the streets and lazy rhythms emerge from dusky bars as evening draws in. Who knows what treasures are hidden behind the faded facades and wrought-iron window grills of Trinidad's houses. Of interest is The Museo Romantico, The Museo Municipal de Historia, the beautiful churches of Santisima Trinidad and San Francisco de Paula and the nearby sugar mills.
