Cuba is unique in many ways, but the island also stands out in the Caribbean due to its geographical variety. The flat lands are used for farming and include cattle farms, citrus groves, rice fields and emerald green tobacco plantations, however in Vinales these are interrupted by large outcrops of limestone topped with lush vegetation called 'mogotes'. These distinctive conical limestone monoliths dotting the landscape are found nowhere else in the world save in Vietnam and Southern China. Everywhere you go you will see oxen working in the fields, farm animals roaming the villages and horses rounding up the cattle. It is also possible to explore the many number of caves in the area, most notable however is the Ceuva del Indio, which allows you to take a boat trip on the underground rivers.
