Weather

Cyprus enjoys a Mediterranean climate, with abundant sunshine year round. Long, dry summers and mild winters are separated by short autumn and spring seasons. Receiving more than 300 days of sunshine a year, during the summer months Cyprus is dominated by clear blue skies and temperatures that soar above 30°C day after day tempered by cooling sea breezes in coastal areas. During the winter and spring months, occasional welcome rainfall and even snowfall to the higher peaks can be found down close to sea level, the island never really gets cold during the winter.

luxury holidays in Cyprus

The birthplace of Aphrodite, Cyprus is blessed with a pleasant year round climate, breathtaking coastline and countryside dotted with fragrant citrus groves.

At the crossroads of Mediterranean trade, Cyprus has been influenced by many of the great maritime cultures of Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Phoenicians and Egyptians were followed by Roman and Byzantine traders, who in their turn were supplanted by the Crusaders, Venetians and Ottomans. Such heritage and past has left the island covered with castles, fortresses and abbeys - fascinating relics from antiquity to enrich your holidays in Cyprus.

Luxury holidays in Cyprus with Abercrombie & Kent afford a privileged view of this beautiful and ancient land, providing an authentic taste of Cypriot cultures past and present.

Away from the madding crowds, the countryside is rugged and unspoiled with sleepy, timeless villages hidden deep in its midst. Pissouri Village is a must for every Cyprus holiday.  It is an ideal setting for a stroll or enjoying an authentic Cyprus coffee in its square while chatting to the locals with the surrounding villages offering a variety of activities. Stunning mountain views, picturesque, rustic villages surrounded by olive groves and dazzling beach and sea all add to the charm of luxury Cyprus.

Alternatively, focus your luxury holiday in Cyprus along the coastline, where a string of tempting sandy beaches and clear blue seas provide some of the most beautiful and unspoilt bathing in Europe.

Spring here comes early, in January or February, carpeting the countryside with delicate white flowers of narcissae. Then the anemones arrive - in legend the spilled blood of Adonis - wild orchids, freesias and irises, with, in summer, fields of chrysanthemums challenging the sun with their vivid yellow.

Our favoured hotel here is a superb outpost of Cyprus luxury on the little-visited northwest coast, bringing the highest standards to wonderful rolling landscapes where shepherds tend their flocks in a timeless world.
