Libya

DESERT SANDS: dunes at sunset

On the southern most shores of the Mediterranean and one of the gateways to the great Sahara, Libya is a country with a rich heritage.

Since the emergence of mankind, various cultures and civilisations have flourished here. Coastal Tripoli, the capital, is small and compact and offers fine architecture set against a background of fascinating mosques, old medinas and a buzzing cafe culture. To the west, the detailed Roman site of Leptis Magna is awesome with numerous well preserved temples, arches and baths. Wander through the evocative ancient remains of Roman Sabratha to the east and wonder at the lifestyle of the ancients at Villa Sileen. Visit the lakes in the Fezzan region to the south, an area competely engulfed by the Sahara and home to some of the most spectacular desert scenery in the world. Alcohol is not permitted in Libya. The visa situation for Libya is constantly changing, please speak to one of our sales consultants for the latest information.
