HIGHLIGHTS

  • Plant a foot in both hemispheres when you visit the Middle of the World.
  • Visit a working hacienda and try your hand at local farming methods.
  • Watch Darwin’s laboratory unfold on the unique Galapagos Islands.
  • Snorkel with bubble-blowing sea lions as blue-footed boobies dive bomb above.

Days 1 - 4 Ecuador
Flying into the cobbled delight of Quito, a marvellous UNESCO world heritage city and your base to start fun and educational day trips exploring the Ecuadorian mainland. Quito and her UNESCO sister Otavalo steal the show in terms of tempting town treats; spot colourfully clad locals touting their wares, cheeky shoe shine boys and dynamic dancers in the pretty squares. Visit surrounding local villages and their artisans including one of our favourite homes, that of a local toymaker who might even teach you to play the panpipes. No visit to the region is complete without a trip to the ‘Middle of the World’ where you can hop over either side of the equator, sure to capture the imagination of superlative loving children!
Strike out to magnificently photogenic Cotopaxi, claimed to be the worlds highest active volcano and run wild in the country's central highlands, spot llamas and even Andean wolves in this fearsomely beautiful volcano flanked park.
Head to a traditional hacienda where you can watch cows being milked, and even try your hand at this much-harder-than-it-looks art! Kids will be thrilled by the farming skills they can learn as well as having a chance to show off their bike and horse riding proficiency across the marvellously stimulating landscape.
Casa Gangotena I Meals : Breakfast

Days 5 - 11 Galapagos
We can’t really think of a better place to wow oft’impatient children! The sheer numbers of tortoises, sea lions, iguanas and even baby reef-sharks offered up pretty much search free will thrill children and adults alike.
Cruising the famous waters is undoubtedly the best ways to explore the splashing and stomping ground of the animals; these 13 volcanic islands scattered across nearly 30,000 square miles of ocean are populated by extraordinary and beautiful creatures, some of which are found nowhere else on our planet.
For seven marvellous days you can watch Darwin’s 'laboratory' unfold on land and encounter sea lions, reef sharks (harmless!), Galapagos penguins and turtles whilst snorkelling. On land, you will come face to face with all manner of splendid creatures, including giant tortoises, albatross, flightless cormorants, pelicans, iguanas and blue-footed boobies.
The MV Eclipse provides a special family departure which welcomes children from four years old and ensures hiking, snorkelling, kayaking and games are part of the twice daily shore excursions. Our Galapagos naturalists organise discovery activities throughout the cruise to allow children to learn about the unique species of island dwellers. The animals will delight but we are pretty sure Tagus Cove on Isabela Island will be talked about during many of a ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ film to come! It is veritable treasure trove for youngsters - historically used as an anchoring point for pirates, buccaneers and whalers, the names of the hundreds of ships painted on the high ridges are bound to ignite their imagination.

Day 12 Ecuador
One last thrilling ‘Zodiac’ ride, one last scrumptious breakfast and a quick splash in the top deck plunge pool and it’s time to say goodbye to this incredibly engaging classroom. It’s back to the mainland today and Guayaquil for your final Ecuadorian dinner and to rest in your hotel.
Wyndham Guayaquil I Meals : Breakfast

Day 13 UK
Fly home full of stories of bubble blowing seals, active volcanoes, pirates and colourful old ladies; tales that are sure to sound like they have come from magic lands when recounted in the playground.
Meals : Breakfast
