  • Hiking Antisana Volcano
  • Looking for the Plate-billed Mountain-Toucan
  • Lunch looking over Tandayapa Valley

Day 1 Quito Walking Tour
After transferring in to this UNESCO stamped capital take some time to get your bearings and discover this city on foot. The city's crown jewel is certainly its 'Old Town', packed with colonial monuments and architectural treasures, chock-a-block full of museums, cathedrals and Baroque architecture local life continues amongst 17th-century facades, picturesque plazas and magnificent art-filled churches.
It is a photographers and shoppers paradise. Women scuttle around in colourful shawls and jaunty fedoras, men wearing cowboy hats set off by huge grins bounce over the cobbled streets in their jeeps and small boutique filled alleys and hidden craft shops are dotted around. Head off in the afternoon to enjoy spectacular views of the city and surrounding mountains from the top of Panecillo Hill and some obligatory posing with the Ecuadorian monument.

Day 2 Antisana Volcano & Ecological Reserve
Head to Antisana Volcano reaching 5,758 meters/18,891 feet above sea level, the snow-capped peak of one of the highest summits in the area surrounding Quito. South-east of the capital, the volcano has four glaciered peaks, notoriously difficult to climb, that are reflected in the surrounding lakes. You will need your walking boots as you try your luck spotting rare species such as the Andean condor, Cara-caras and the rainbow duck as well as a huge variety of flora and fauna.

Day 3 Bella Vista & Tandayapa Valley
Drag yourself out of bed this morning and head to The Bellavista Cloud Forest, located on the old Nono-Mindo road, northwest from Quito. For years it has been known as one of the best birding areas in Ecuador, an area that has won the Audubon Christmas Bird Count for the highest number of bird species seen in one day! Get back to nature and hike the extensive trail system and explore the little-travelled dirt roads that cross the Reserve. There is always something to see including unique birds like Plate-billed Mountain-Toucan and Tanager-Finch, and of course plenty of hummingbirds!
