THE HOTEL
With impressive views of the Great Pyramids above the canopy of Cairo's ancient Zoological and Botanical Gardens, this hotel stands at the centre of the First Residence apartments and shops overlooking the Nile River. It is an opulent, classic hotel with a homely feel despite a grand architectural scheme.
The 269 guest rooms are richly appointed in French Empire style. The soothing interiors feature soft gold, red and green tones and gilded, empire furnishings.
Club 35 is the hip place to be seen - covering three floors, it has a trendy yet informal atmosphere, a sleek interior and cool colours.
***Please note there is some renovation work currently being carried out at the hotel. The aim of the project is to extend the deck area of the pool and renovate the restaurant which is called Aura. The pool and the Aura restaurant at the First Residence are therefore currently closed and will continue to be closed until mid March 2012. We have been assured that there will be little noise disturbance to our guests and that all our rooms will be allocated overlooking the pyramids and Zoological gardens and not the pool unless specifically requested. The pool is on the 4th floor and our rooms will be from 10th. Further to this the work hours will be 10am to 5pm so for most of our guests there should not be any disruption as you will be out on your sightseeing excursions in Cairo during these hours.
We appreciate that the swimming pool can be an important factor in your choice of hotel and so as an alternative, the hotel has arranged use of the pool facilities at the sister hotel the Four Seasons Nile Plaza, and are providing a complimentary round trip limousine service for all guests***
Winter (October to April) for cultural trips, although May to September is great for the Red Sea. Ramadan is a particularly exciting time to be in Egypt - it is celebrated here with more exuberance than anywhere else in the world.
