Day 1 London / Cairo
As you arrive in Cairo you’ll be met by a member of the A&K team and driven to your centrally-located hotel, the Fairmont Nile City, home for the next three nights.

Day 2 Cairo

Today is all about Cairo, starting at the Egyptian Antiquities Museum which is crammed with the exquisite treasures found in Tutankhamun’s tomb, in contrast to the rather macabre collection mummies of ancient pharaohs. After lunch, visit the imposing hilltop Citadel, the splendid 19th century Mosque of Mohammed Ali and the Sultan Hassan Mosque, it’s time for a snapshot of more contemporary Cairo life, as you explore the winding alleys of the Khan el Khalili Bazaar.

Day 3 Cairo
Today is Pyramid Day, beginning south of Cairo at the ruins of Memphis and the Stepped Pyramid of Zoser I at Sakkara, thought to be the oldest stone structure in the world. The day’s real highlight will undoubtedly be the Great Pyramids at Giza, the only member the Seven Wonders of the World still remaining today, guarded by the mighty Sphinx stand guard. The Solar Boat Museum is nearby, housing two funerary barques discovered in 1954, a fascinating insight to ancient beliefs about the afterlife.

Day 4 Cairo / Luxor
An early flight takes you to Luxor where you’ll board the luxurious Sun Boat IV, your floating home for the next four nights. After lunch on board, it is time to explore Luxor’s West Bank, notably The Valley of the Kings - where over 60 tombs have been discovered including the burial chamber of Tutankhamun. Nearby is The Valley of the Queens which houses around 80 tombs from queens of the 18th, 19th and 20th Dynasties. You’ll also visit the impressive cliffside Temple of Hatshepsut, built by Pharaonic Egypt's only female ruler, rising out of the desert plain in a series of terraces. On the way back the boat, you’ll stop to see the Colossi of Memnon before re-embarking ahead of the captain's cocktail party.

Day 5 Luxor / Dendarah / Luxor
Sun Boat IV sets sail for Qena this morning as you enjoy a sumptuous breakfast on board, passing through some of the most beautiful scenery along the Nile. You’ll visit the Ptolemic Temple of the Goddess Hathor at Dendarah, a wonderfully preserved temple complete with massive stone roof, dark chambers, underground passages and towering hieroglyphs. After a leisurely lunch on the boat, you’ll have plenty of time to relax and absorb the unfolding tableau of everyday life on the banks of the Nile as the boat heads back to Luxor, to explore the Temple of Karnak, built over more than a thousand years by generations of Pharaohs. The great Hypostyle Hall is a jaw-dropping forest of giant pillars, covering an area larger than the whole of Notre Dame Cathedral.

Day 6 Luxor / Kom Ombo
This morning set sail for Edfu passing by Esna. After lunch on board, disembark to explore the Temple of Horus at Edfu, the largest and best preserved temple in Egypt. Back on board, the boat gently sails on to dock at Kom Ombo. There will be plenty of time to relax on board during the afternoon before a wonderful Egyptian themed dinner.

Day 7 Kom Ombo / Aswan
Disembark to visit the magnificent temple at Kom Ombo dedicated to the crocodile-god Sobek, which is located on a bend in the Nile where in ancient times sacred crocodiles basked in the sun on the riverbank. The boat sails back to dock at Aswan to enable you to visit Temple of Philae on Agilika Island and the unfinished Obelisk at the Ancient Granite Quarries. You’ll have the opportunity to take a gentle cruise on a traditional felucca around the islands of Aswan, passing by the Botanical Gardens. Tonight's farewell gala dinner will be a formal affair, with white-gloved waiters serving gourmet cuisine.

Day 8 Aswan
Disembark the Sun Boat IV for the final time to board the MS Eugenie for three further days’ cruising, this time to take in some of Egypt’s lesser-visited ancient sites. After lunch on board, you’ll explore the one of the largest Nubian temples, the Temple of Kalabsha where you’ll see the fine floral capitals at the Kiosk of Kertassi and the hemi-speos of Beit El Wali.

Day 9 Aswan / Amada
Sail to Wadi El Seboua, crossing the Tropic of Cancer, where you ‘ll visit the Temple of Wadi El Seboua, the Temple of Dakka and the Greco-Roman Temple of Meharakka before re-embarking and relaxing on board while the boar sails on to Amada.

Day 10 Amada / Abu Simbel
Disembark to explore the temples of Amada, the oldest surviving monument on Lake Nasser. Sail on to Kasr Ibrim, the hilltop site of a Pharaonic citadel, where your guide will give a talk about the site from the sundeck - entrance to the site itself is not allowed. Your next stop is Abu Simbel where you’ll see the colossal cliffside statues of Ramses II and his beloved wife Nefertari. In the evening there will be a Sound & Light show over the temple, by a candlelit dinner on board.

Day 11 Abu Simbel / Cairo
After breakfast you’ll be driven to Abu Simbel Airport for your flight to Cairo via Aswan and your final night in Egypt at the Fairmont Towers.

Fly early morning on your British Airways flight to London.
