A five day tour of the key sites in Egypt, incorporating a three night cruise on A&K's glamorous Sanctuary Sun Boat III, departing in May 2013. This one-off journey is designed for the solo traveller; therefore there are no single supplements.
Day 1 - London/Cairo
Depart from London for Cairo. A member of the A&K Egypt team will meet you at the airport and accompany you to the Four Seasons Nile Plaza, located in the heart of Cairo.
Day 2 - Cairo
Your A&K guide will meet you at the Four Season and accompany you to Egyptian Museum of Antiquities, giving you history, insight and context for the many exhibits, including Tutankhamen's burial artefacts, before escorting you the ancient Pyramids of Giza, the Sphinx and the Boat Museum to view the funerary boat of King Cheops.
Day 3 - Cairo/Aswan
An early morning flight from Cairo to Aswan, to embark A&K's Nile stunning cruise boat, Sanctuary Sun Boat III, from our private docks. Sanctuary Sun Boat III is recognised as one of the most elegant boats on the Nile. It has just 16 cabins but ample public space including several decks, large salon, dining room and plunge pool. The food on board is delicious and plentiful - breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner accompanied by Egyptian wine and beer. A highly experienced Egyptologist will accompany you for the duration of the cruise, starting at the Granite Quarries, site of the huge, unfinished obelisk.
Day 4 - Nile
After breakfast, your Egyptologist will accompany on a short motorboat voyage to visit the majestic Philae Temple on the Island of Agilka. After re-embarking Sanctuary Sun Boat III to cruise to Kon Ombo, you will are invited to participate on an Egyptian cooking lesson by the on board chef. The Temple of Kom Ombo is dedicated to the crocodile-god Sobek and stands at a bend in the Nile where in ancient times sacred crocodiles basked in the sun on the riverbank. Afternoon tea will be served while moving further up river to Edfu, to explore the most completely preserved Temple of Horus at Edfu. A lavish Egyptian banquet awaits on your return to on board, followed by music and dancing.
Day 5 - Luxor
Your Egyptologist will accompany you to the East Bank of Luxor to see the Temple of Luxor and the Temple of Karnak, famed for its great 'Hypostyle Hall'. After lunch, he will escort you to the West Bank of Luxor to explore the Valley of the Kings and the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut Temple. On the way back to the Sanctuary Sun Boat III you will stop at the Colossi of Memnon. A gala dinner awaits, with belly dancer and whirling dervish.
Day 6 - Luxor/Cairo
After breakfast you will be driven to Luxor airport to fly back to Cairo for your return flight back to home.

Best time to be there
Winter (October to April) for cultural trips, although May to September is great for the Red Sea. Ramadan is a particularly exciting time to be in Egypt - it is celebrated here with more exuberance than anywhere else in the world.
