See the best of the Nile from the comfort of the 5* Sanctuary Sun Boat IV from Aswan to Edfu and Luxor, including sites such as the Valley of the Kings and Karnak Temple. With free time at the end to relax on the east bank of the Nile at the lovely Hilton Luxor Resort & Spa.
Day 1 London
Depart London and fly overnight via Cairo to Aswan.
Day 2 - Aswan
This morning, arrive into Aswan and join the stylish Sanctuary Sun Boat IV, spending the next three nights afloat. Chilled juices and a warm welcome greet you on arrival. Lunch will be served on board followed by a visit to the Unfinished Obelisk, the Granite Quarries, which supplied the ancient Egyptians with most of the hard stone used in pyramids and temples, and still hold a huge unfinished obelisk. Afternoon tea will be served on board in the lounge. In the evening you will be greeted by your Boat Manager for a Cocktail Reception, who will introduce you to the boat staff and review the on board facilities and your cruise program for the upcoming days. Complimentary Egyptian wine and local beer will be served, together with a selection of canapés. Gourmet dinner will be served on board in the dining room.
Day 3 - Aswan/Kom Ombo/Edfu
After breakfast in the restaurant, you will be able to take a small motorboat ride to visit the romantic and majestic Philae Temple on the Island of Agilika. Back on board you may, if you wish, be presented with an Egyptian cooking lesson. Enjoy lunch, while you cruise to Kom Ombo and visit the magnificent Temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to the crocodile-god Sobek, which stands at a bend in the Nile where in ancient times sacred crocodiles basked in the sun on the riverbank. Afternoon tea will be served while you cruise to Edfu followed by a chance to explore the largest and most completely preserved Pharaonic - albeit Greek-built - temple in Egypt, the extraordinary Temple of Horus at Edfu. This evening there will be a wonderful Egyptian themed dinner
Day 4 - Luxor
Sail onto Luxor during breakfast. Your Egyptologist will guide you on a tour of the East Bank of Luxor, starting with the strikingly graceful Temple of Luxor dedicated to the god Amun, the Temple of Karnak, built over more than a thousand years by generations of Pharaohs. The great "Hypostyle Hall" is an incredible forest of giant pillars, covering an area larger than the whole of Notre Dame Cathedral. After lunch, visit the West Bank of Luxor to explore the Valley of the Kings, a vast City of the Dead where magnificent tombs were carved into the desert rocks, decorated richly, and filled with treasures for the afterlife by generations of Pharaohs. Proceed with the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut (Ancient Egypt's only female Pharaoh) rising out of the desert plain in a series of terraces and merging with the sheer limestone cliffs that surround it, as if nature herself had built this extraordinary monument. The last stop and on the way back to the river Nile, you will pass by the famed Colossi of Memnon, known in Ancient Greek times for their haunting voices at dawn. Tonight's farewell gala dinner will be a formal affair, with white-gloved waiters serving gourmet cuisine.
Days 5 to 11 - Luxor
Disembark from the Sanctuary Sun Boat IV and transfer to the luxurious Hilton Luxor, on the banks of the Nile. Spend the rest of your time relaxing at the resort or further explore the sights of Luxor
Day 12 - Luxor/London
Transfer to Luxor airport for your flight home via Cairo.

Winter (October to April) for cultural trips, although May to September is great for the Red Sea. Ramadan is a particularly exciting time to be in Egypt - it is celebrated here with more exuberance than anywhere else in the world.
