Adrere Amellal Ecolodge
Why we like it
- 40 rooms and one suite with Siwa Oasis or Mountain views and private balconies
- Swim, float and relax in the vast silence of the saltwater lake, or take to the cool waters of the fresh water spring
- Delicious predominantly organic cuisine served where you want it, when you want it
- Activities include sightseeing in 4x4 vehicles with an expert guide, climbing White Mountain, horse riding, mud bathing or simply relaxing with a massage
- An all-inclusive policy includes all food and beverages, laundry and sightseeing in and around Siwa
- Ideal for individuals, adventurous families and small groups
We think the excursion into the Sahara Desert is a breath-taking experience - even if you've visited desert locations before; swim in surprisingly cool lakes hidden amongst the vast expanse of dunes, then watch the desert turn red as the sun sets.
Jon Dunne's client writes; “I would like to thank all the team on Sanctuary Sunboat IV for their exceptional and outstanding care during my seven-night cruise. For your future clients, I can assure you that the security was first-class. Thank you to everybody at Abercrombie & Kent for a marvellous holiday.”
- SW, London
The Adrere Amellal sits nestled beneath the White Mountain and offers the most complete escape imaginable - not just from daily routine, but from the world as we know it. In keeping with the eco theme, there are no telephones and no electricity - instead the place is lit with the warm, flattering light of beeswax candles and the starry desert sky. This hotel is a genuine retreat and more - a stay here is truly unforgettable.
Best time to be there
Winter (October to April) for cultural trips, although May to September is great for the Red Sea. Ramadan is a particularly exciting time to be in Egypt - it is celebrated here with more exuberance than anywhere else in the world.
Cairo, Luxor (British Airways, Egypt Air); Sharm el Sheikh (British from Sep 2015, Easyjet); Hurghada (Easyjet)
