Siwa Desert Safari

Egypt, 6 Nights

Learn the culture of the desert people at the remote oasis of Siwa.

Day 1 - Cairo/Alexandria.
Arrive to Alexandria by road from Cairo and check in to the Four Seasons Hotel Alexandria at San Stefano with its expansive views of the Mediterranean. View papyrus scrolls, ancient perfume bottles and painted mummy cases showcased at the Alexandria National Museum.

Day 2 - Alexandria.
In the morning tour the city and stroll through the intriguing Montazah Palace Gardens. See the underground Catacombs of Kom el-Shuga, the citadel of Bey and nearby Pompey's Pillar. Free time allows a visit the famous integrated cultural complex The Bibliotheca Alexandrina or time rejuvination in the hotel's spa.

Day 3 - Alexandria/Siwa.
Drive into the desert to El Alamein, scene of one of the decisive battles of World War II and a visit to the Allied War Cemetery. Stop for a light lunch at Matrouh on the coast before driving on through the varied desert scenery until you arrive at the oasis enclave of Siwa. Here, the unique environmentally friendly Adrere Amellal Ecolodge is your home.

Day 4 - Siwa.
Today visit the main sites including the El Gabel tombs on the Mount of the Dead complete with mummies from 250 BC, the medieval Shali Citadel and the 2,700 year old Temple of Amun, once visited by Alexander the Great.

Day 5 - Siwa.

Explore Siwa's fantastic landscapes, learning about its unique desert culture with your expert guide.

Day 6 - Siwa/Cairo.

A full day drive back to Cairo pausing with lunch en route. Stay at the Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at The First Residence for your final night or why extend your stay and make time to visit the Pyramids of Dahshur.

Day 7 - Cairo/London.
Morning transfer to Cairo Airport for your flight home.
