Finland is considered one of the most unspoilt natural environments in Europe. It is sometimes referred to as the 'land of a thousand lakes' which is hardly surprising with its more than 187,000 lakes. The many national parks cover an area of over 8,000 square kilometres; full of land forms and habitats characteristic to Finland - lakes, forests, rapids and rift valleys.
Finland has warm summers, colourful spring and autumn and snowy winters, with an abundance of opportunities for hiking, rafting and adventure trails. Lapland, in the far north of the country, has guaranteed snow almost all year round. Here you can see the Northern Lights and the "nightless nights of summer".
