This trip will take you from the excitement of Paris to the mellow, sundrenched Cote D'Azur. Gain an insight into the history of Paris' many famous sights with your local guide before taking the train down to the southern coast to explore sophisticated towns, markets,art shops and glamorous beaches.
Day 1 London/Paris
Fly from London to Paris and transfer to Hotel Daniel, situated in the ulta-fashionable Rive Droite area of the city.
Day 2 Paris Orientation
After enjoying breakfast at your hotel, enjoy a full day's exploration with your guide. Pass by famous Parisian sights such as the Arc de Triomphe and travel down the Champs Elysées to the Ile de la Cité, where you will visit Notre Dame Cathedral and the Sainte Chapelle - a pearl of Gothic architecture. Take the lift in the Eiffel Tower and admire views of the Parisian skyline. Head up towards Montmartre where many painters lived and worked and where, today, artists still gather. Visit the Sacred Heart Basilica and explore the steep cobbled streets of one of the most historic and interesting neighbourhoods in Paris.
Day 3 Paris Museums
This morning meet your private vehicle and guide for an Impressionists sightseeing tour. Visit the recently re-opened Musée de l' Orangerie, which houses Monet's magnificent 'Water Lily' paintings. The Centre Pompidou is Europe's most important museum of modern art and one of the world's most significant galleries. Some of the art movements represented are Fauvism, Cubism, Surrealism and Abstract
Expressionism. It has 50,000 works of art (including paintings, sculpture, drawings, and photography) - of which 1,500 to 2,000 are on display to the visitors - and features work by artists such as Kandinsky, Matisse, Miró, and Picasso.
Day 4 Paris/Cannes
Travel by TGV train from Paris to Nice and enjoy the beautiful French countryside en route. Drive to the heart of glamorous Cannes for your three night stay.
Day 5 Nice & Eze
Drive into Nice and explore the Old Town. Nice is home to an extensive food and flower market (except on Monday when the fascinating antiques market takes its place), and your expert local guide will be pleased to show you all the different products grown in the region,and the various dishes that are made from them. Later, visit the National Museum of Marc Chagall and admire some of his famous works including 'Le Message Biblique', his biblical collection. The mosaic outside the museum and the stained glass room are not to be missed. Visit the Matisse Museum, situated on the hill of Cimiez, not far from the Franciscan monastery. Also explore Hotel Regina where Matisse used to reside, and the Gallo-Roman ruins. Drive up the famous 'Moyenne Corniche' and visit the village of Eze - perched dramatically on a cliff 1,000' above the sea. Wander the charming, cobbled medieval lanes filled with artisan shops and restaurants, and admire a splendid panorama of the Riviera coastline below, perhaps having a coffee on the terrace of the Chevre d'Or Restaurant.
Day 6 St Paul de Vence
Today, meet your expert guide and private vehicle for a half day visit to the beautiful village of St Paul de Vence. Perfectly preserved within its medieval ramparts, the village has been a mecca for artists since the 19th century. Just outside the village is the Fondation Maeght,world renowned for its collection of 20th century paintings, sculptures and ceramics.
Day 7 Nice/UK
You will be met by your by private vehicle to drive you to Nice for your journey home.
