If wilderness adventure is your thing then you can’t beat a trip to one of the last true wildernesses on earth. The big unpolluted skies of Alaska will wow by both day and night. Snuggle up in a cosy cabin with your loved one as black bears prowl outside and eagles soar past your window. Due to the sheer vastness of the uninhabited landscape this outstanding honeymoon destination attracts a host of impressive wildlife.
Flying between the destinations is a thrilling way to cover this vast landscape and the portfolio of activities on offer in Alaska is fabulously diverse, offering everything from expert culinary classes to heli-fishing. After a day blasting around with a pack of sled-dogs, or perhaps you would like to try Nordic skiing or snowshoeing, head back to your lodge to get cosy with your loved one and enjoy a quiet evening of wine and fine cheese tasting before dinner.
Alaska Honeymoon Highlights
- Fly by floatplane from location to location.
- Hone your fly-fishing technique with expert tuition before putting it to the test on Alaska’s freshwater rivers and lakes, fishing for trout and salmon.
- Watch otters play at Winterlake and look for bears and eagles along the river banks and seashore.
- Take a helicopter to remote areas for fishing and walking.
- Enjoy outdoor adventures such as hiking, fishing, kayaking or boat excursions.
A flight to Kachemark Bay is a great way to take in your surroundings, as you look for more mighty moose, bears, eagles, and beluga whales. From your private cabin on the seashore enjoy the views of Grace Ridge and Tutka Fjord. Spend your days here enjoying the seaside; learn about the local ecology, take the kayaks out or watch noble eagles nest next to your lodge. The charismatic local captain can meet you at the lodge dock for a day of fishing in the Cook Inlet where you can try your hand at hooking halibut and Alaskan salmon.
Head back to the lodge with your catch where the chef will help you fillet your catch and prepare it for dinner, a sure-fire way to impress. Or, if you prefer, there is always the hot tub and sauna to relax in. Another excellent dinner over, why don’t you both stay up late and head out into the starry night to see what treasures the low tide brings with an evening’s fishing? Even if you don’t catch a thing we think it’s a gorgeously romantic way to start your new life together.
