Choosing to mini-moon in Sweden will richly reward culture vultures and foodies. Stockholm, probably the coolest capital in Europe is continuing to lead the Nordic cultural revolution with new restaurants and cafés opening daily and great galleries and museums in which to impress your loved one.

It is, however, about far more than just Stokholm. The countryside is awash with natural wonders. Drive across the iconic Öresund Bridge – the namesake setting for popular Scandi crime drama, The Bridge and visit the preserved ring fortress near the modern city of Trelleborg located in the beautiful Skåne countryside. Visit Gothenburg for more oldworld charm where your fabulous hotel, an old palace dating back to 1889 could await you for your first evening at candlelit leisure.

Sweden Honeymoon Highlights

  • You may be lucky enough to experience the northern lights.
  • Explore the Swedish archipelago.
  • Dine in some of the world’s top restaurants, such as Restaurant Frantzén and Esperanto.
  • For the ultimate picnic, enjoy a threecourse dinner in a heated teepee tent on an ice-covered lake, surrounded by torches and candles.
  • Stay in unique hotels.

The tranquil archipelago off the West Coast of Gothenburg is a chain of tiny islands peppering the beautiful Bohuslän coastline. Stretching north from Gothenburg to the border with Norway, the region is dotted with pretty fishing villages, inlets and idyllic sailing resorts waiting to be explored. You can cross the Askerö Fjord to the picturesque island of Tjörn for a walking tour of the quaint harbour village of Klädesholmen. In the evening, we recommend hopping on one of Gothenburg’s famous trams and eating with the locals at Publik, a café-bar hybrid that’s arguably the city’s coolest hangout.

A swift and efficient first-class train journey to Stockholm could mark the end of your adventure but you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy this achingly hip city staying in one of its landmark properties. Although this city could occupy you for weeks there is also plenty to see close by – perhaps you would like to visit the fortified castle of Gripsholms Slott; built more than 450 years ago it’s one of the best preserved in Sweden and houses one of the largest collections of historic portraits in the world.

Stockholm benefits from a fabulous nightlife scene and we recommend the famed Mosebacke Etablissement, with live music, theatre and cabaret.
