From the vast open plains of the Serengeti to the snow-dusted peaks of Kilimanjaro and the dazzling white beaches of Zanzibar, Tanzania has so much to offer. Despite all these draws, it remains authentic and low key.
The wildlife in Tanzania is incredible; the country is home to big game, flamingo-filled soda lakes and playful chimps. The Ngorongoro Crater is like the Garden of Eden; a natural barrier encircling the wildlife that roams the crater floor, it affords amazing game viewing. During the winter months, the Great Migration passes through the southern Serengeti, and many animals give birth to their young. For the ultimate in privacy, we’d recommend a night out under the stars at our luxurious mobile camp, which will be set up in the very best spot for wildlife viewing.
Honeymoon Highlights of Tanzania & Zanzibar
- Camping out under the stars brings the sights and sounds of the bush vividly to life. Our luxurious private camp can be set up in a unique spot especially for you.
- Don’t miss a picnic on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, one of the world’s natural wonders.
- The rich soils make Tanzania a favourable destination for commercial flower producers. The fragrant rose farms on the slopes of Mount Meru are well worth a visit.
- For some quality time together after the excitement and adrenaline of safari, we recommend a private dhow cruise on the crystal clear seas of Zanzibar.
Away from the more established parks, the newly emerged ‘Southern Circuit’ parks of the Selous, Ruaha and Saadani have created a rugged and untamed rival to the north. Known as a birdwatcher’s paradise and off the main tourist path, Saadani is a delightfully quiet coastal wildlife sanctuary. Two excellent new lodges have recently opened up in the area to make the most of this unique safari environment – the perfect combination of river, bush and beach.
Beyond the wildlife, Tanzania has an intriguing culture and several industries which may be of interest. Tanzanite jewellery is a big export, and we can arrange a visit to a jeweller if you would like to see how the stones are cut, as well as browsing the finished products.
The exotic island of Zanzibar is an ideal place to end your honeymoon, with a few days to relax and explore the rich cultural history of the ‘Spice Island’. Days can be spent reclining on the white sands and being pampered in the spa before losing yourself in the night markets of Stone Town and sampling delicious Zanzibar cuisine – a fusion of the many influences on this trading centre over the centuries.
