Best time to be there

June to September is a great time to enjoy a mild ocean climate thanks to the Gulf Stream. It is relatively mild in winter and cool in summer but this is when you can enjoy almost 24 hours of daylight. The weather can change several times during the day. In midwinter, whilst there is little daylight, it is one of the best times to see the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis).

THE HOTEL
The Radisson Blu 1919 Hotel is a uniquely designed 4 star lifestyle hotel in the heart of Reykjavik, offering outstanding service to leisure travellers. Built for office use in the year 1919 by the first shipping company in Iceland the hotel is one of the most beautiful historical buildings in Reykjavik and is the perfect blend of historic architecture and modern interiors.

We recommendDon't miss trying some of the specialties at the 1919 restaurant, including Arctic Char over catfish cheeks with puréed potatoes, smoked Puffin meat with blueberry sauce and Icelandic Mountain Lamb. Request the Deluxe rooms in the old building with their parquet floors and stucco ceilings, we loved them.

Guest Testimonial

Quite simply excellent. If I could say one thing it is that Egypt is the place to go right now, as there were virtually no tourists at some of the sights and that,I should think, is quite rare!
