Discover the incredible riches of wildlife in India, home not only to tiger but a diverse mix of species preserved in its national parks. The bamboo forests, meadows and ravines of Kanha in Madhya Pradesh gave Rudyard Kipling inspiration for his famous novel Jungle Book. Spend game drives searching for the elusive tiger with expert naturalists.
Day 1 - London/Mumbai
Depart this evening from London Heathrow for your flight to Mumbai.
Day 2 - Mumbai
Arrive this morning and check into the Taj Mahal Palace for an overnight stay. This afternoon enjoy a sightseeing tour of Mumbai that will introduce this vibrant city. Sights including the colourful dhobi ghat, Mumbai's city-sized outdoor laundry and the colossal gateway of India. If time permits, visit the Prince of Wales Museum where you can view the best of the miniature Mughal art.
Day 3 - Mumbai/Nagpur/Kanha
Transfer to the airport after breakfast for your flight to Nagpur. Here you will be met by your driver and travel to Kanha (280kms/ five hours) to arrive at Banjaa Tola for a three night stay. Relax this evening in preparation for the game drives ahead.
Days 4 & 5 - Kanha
Over the next two days you will enjoy early morning and late afternoon game drives searching for the elusive tiger. Kanha is an extremely attractive park where the landscape is just as interesting as the wildlife.
Day 6 - Kanha/Bandhavgarh
This morning you will transfer to Bandhavgarh (260kms/ six hours) to arrive at Mahua Kothifor a three night stay. Bandhavgarh was originally the private hunting reserve of the Maharaja of Rewa. It was given National Park status in 1968 and is now one of the best places on earth to spot tiger.
Days 7 & 8 - Bandhavgarh
Your early morning and late afternoon game drives over the next two days will allow you to view the varied bird life and to search for leopard, tiger, barking deer and wild oxon.
Day 9 - Bandhavgarh/Khajuraho
After breakfast this morning you will continue your journey and travel by road to Khajuraho (300kms/seven hours) where you will check into the Lalit Hotel for a two night stay.
Day 10 - Khajuraho
After a leisurely breakfast explore the Chandela Temples that date back to the 10th and 11th century, featuring erotic art and wonderful sculpture. This evening enjoy a sound and light show.
Day 11 - Khajuraho/Delhi
This morning is your last chance to drink in the serenity of Khajuraho until your afternoon flight to Delhi where the Trident hotel will be available to you until your return flight to London.
Day 12 - Delhi/ London
Depart in the early hours for your return flight to London Heathrow.
Ranthambore Extension:
Day 12 - Delhi/Ranthambore
Depart Delhi and fly to Jaipur where you will transfer to Ranthambore National Park (156kms/three hours). Here you have a choice of accommodation from Aman I Khas, Vanyavilas or Sher Bagh.
Day 13 - Ranthambore
A full day to explore Ranthambore. Ranthambore is a beautiful park with many forts and ruins.
Day 14 - Ranthambore/Delhi
Depart Ranthambore by road to Jaipir for your connecting flight to Delhi. A day room has been reserved at The Trident Gurgaon before your overnight flight to Delhi.
