Why we like it

  • A stunning location between Keoladeo Ghana Bird Sanctuary, Bharatpur and Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve, Sawi Madhopur
  • This 350 year old fort has been bought back to life by the current owners, who you will meet when you stay here
  • Stay under canvas in luxury tents or accommodation in the old fort
  • Activities include guided tours to villages, cave temples and gorges, jeep safaris and sunset boat rides
  • The best time to visit is between July and March

A&K Top Tip

We recommend the walking tour into the village to experience "real" India.

Guest Testimonial

Debbie has been fantastic from the onset. She has made me realised a life long dream of going to India and I will definitely book with A&K again. To date the whole thing has been flawless and the level of communication is of the highest.

Ramathra Fort is a tranquil retreat off the tourist track but worth the drive for travellers looking to get away from busy cities and experience true rural India. All meals are served at the fort as there are no local restaurants nearby but the food is delicious and where possible locally sourced. In the evening enjoy pre dinner drinks on the fort walls watching the sunset.

The fort offers four rooms, two suites and six luxurious tents. The tents are located within the ramparts, in the gardens, and offer en suite facilities. We like the suites on the second floor with panoramic views and a private terrace with outdoor bath tub. With the fort, the lake and the country side this is a vibrant mix of heritage and wilderness waiting to be explored.
