An incredible exploration of India's diversity is the eight day Princely India journey that begins in the vibrant and cosmopolitan city of Mumbai. From here visit the magical city of Udaipur, the desert region of Rajasthan, the principality of Jodphur and the medieval city of Bikaner. Marvel at the beauty of the Taj Mahal, search for the Bengal tiger in the Ranthambore hunting grounds and be enthralled with Jaipur's quintessential Indian charms. The imperial city of Delhi, home to the former British viceroy is the final destination on this memorable journey.
The Royal India journey essentially operates in the reverse of the Princely India journey; starting in Delhi with a sumptuous champagne lunch aboard the train to the legendary Taj Mahal. After admiring the Ranthambore National Park, feel like royalty participating in an exhibition Elephant Polo Match. Soak up the regal heritage of Rajasthan before discovering Champaner, the medieval capital of Gujarat. Finally the royal train draws in to the bustling metropolis of Mumbai carrying everlasting memories of an ancient land.
One of the most popular journeys, and the ultimate Maharajas' Express experience, is the Classical India journey. Explore the hidden treasures of India, embarking from the capital city of Delhi. Cruise the River Ganges to observe ancient spiritual rites before witnessing the stunning legacy of the Taj Mahal in Agra. Understand the art of erotica in the temples of Khajuraho and the magnificent wilderness of the Bandhavgarh National Park, ending the spectacular journey in Kolkata.
Celestial India operates in reverse of the Classical India route and meanders through the country's most renowned religious centres, fascinating sights and architectural creations. See a centre for Hindu pilgrimage and embark on a sunrise boat trip along the Ganges. Familiarise yourself with the rural lifestyle and culture on a guided Village Walk in Khajuraho and discover the finest example of Mughal architecture in Agra.
From October to March the weather is refreshingly cool with minimal rainfall in most places. India's main festivals also take place during this time, such as the Pushkar Fair in Rajasthan, the Republic Day of India and Holi, the festival of colours.
